Taman Alam Lumbini

A Buddhist temple complex at the foot of Mount Sibayak with a golden pagoda modelled on Myanmar's Shwedagon Pagoda; open to visitors.

The pagoda was completed in 2010, stands about 46.8 m high and 68 m long and wide, and is recorded by MURI as Indonesia's tallest pagoda. Inside are relics and thousands of Buddha statues from many countries. The roughly 3-hectare complex also has a vegetarian restaurant, a souvenir shop and a cool garden.

🚗 Getting there: ±60 km (±2 hours) from Medan via Jalan Jamin Ginting; from Berastagi take Jalan Berastagi–Barusjahe towards Tongkoh.

🎟 Admission: No ticket; voluntary donation (kumparan, January 2024)
💡 Tip: This is an active place of worship: dress modestly and keep quiet.
