Desa Budaya Lingga

A traditional village at about 1,200 m with Siwaluh Jabu houses more than 250 years old — one of the best places to see Karo architecture and traditional life.

Siwaluh Jabu means 'house of eight families': a large stilt house without partition walls, home to several related families, built of timber, planks and bamboo with a palm-fibre roof and no nails. About 1 km before the village is the Museum Karo Lingga (opened 1989), showing household items, farming tools, musical instruments and other Karo cultural objects.

🚗 Getting there: About 5 km west of Kabanjahe and ±15 km from Berastagi.
💡 Tip: The houses are lived in: ask permission before entering or photographing residents.
