Desa Budaya Dokan

A village in Merek district with Karo houses over a century old, on the route between Berastagi and Lake Toba.

Most of the traditional houses in Dokan, including Siwaluh Jabu, are still lived in and show the communal life of the Karo. Visitors can also see an old rice-pounding mortar, craftsmen making the kulcapi lute, and orange and coffee gardens. Near the village gate is a small fruit market where farmers sell their harvest.

🚗 Getting there: About 23 km from Berastagi on the main road towards Lake Toba.
💡 Tip: Combine a visit to Dokan with Sipiso-piso Waterfall, as both are on the same route.
