Bukit Gundaling

A park hill on the edge of Berastagi at about 1,575 m, with views over the town and the Sibayak and Sinabung volcanoes behind.

Gundaling has long been a place where locals and visitors enjoy the cool air of the Karo highlands. Today there are photo spots, tree houses, stalls selling Karo souvenirs and instant-print photographers. A typical outing is a horse ride from the hilltop down towards the Berastagi fruit market.

🚗 Getting there: About 2–3 km from central Berastagi; ±69 km (±2.5 hours) from Medan.
🎟 Admission: Rp7,500 per person; parking Rp5,000–Rp10,000; horse ride Rp40,000 (detikSumut, March 2023)
💡 Tip: Come in the morning or afternoon when the sky is clear so Sinabung and Sibayak are visible, and bring a jacket.
