Air Terjun Sipiso-piso

A waterfall about 120 m high dropping from the Karo plateau into the valley at the northern tip of Lake Toba. The viewpoint shows the falls, Lake Toba and Tongging village.

'Piso' means knife in Karo — the water falls thin and straight like a blade splitting the cliff. It is among the highest waterfalls in Indonesia and an icon of Karo Regency by Lake Toba. Visitors can admire it from the upper platform or walk down a path with long flights of steps to near its base.

🚗 Getting there: About 30 km (±1 hour) from Kabanjahe via Jalan Kabanjahe–Merek and Jalan Saribu Dolok; in Situnggaling village turn towards Tongging.

💡 Tip: The path down to the base of the falls is steep and long; save energy for the climb back and wear non-slip shoes.
